Tips for prolonging your blankets life

* Never wash your blanket in household laundry soaps. It can break down your buckles and breaks down the fabrics that keep your horse dry.

* Make sure your straps are properly fit to your horse. Loose, long, hanging straps can get caught up in your horses movements and causes straps to rip.

* Store your blankets in a plastic type bag or Rubbermaid type container, out of direct sunlight during summer months. This will also keep your blankets safe from rodents and barn cats.

* Some blankets dry better when left on your horse. The fabrics are made to dry from the horses own body heat.

* Don’t leave rain soaked blankets in bags or wadded up. Hang your blanket, this will help decrease your blankets chance of molding. Mold will cause your waterproof materials to eventually break down.

* Make sure your blanket fits your horse correctly. Tight blankets rub your horse and may rip easier due to stress on seams. Blankets that are too big, hang and sag causing more repairs or injury to your horse.

How long does it take to get my blanket back?

           On almost all blankets it takes us a week to complete our blanket washing process. Once your blanket has been picked up it gets a color coded number, then it gets washed. If it is a repair blanket it hangs in a designated area. Blankets must hang for 24-36 hours before they are dry. Once they dry we can repair if necessary. After blankets have been dried/repaired they are folded and placed on our bagging shelves where your blanket is matched to your invoice and bagged for return to you. As you can see, to properly care for your blanket there are many steps involved and it takes close to a week to finish them all.

How often should I re-waterproof my blanket?

           Re-waterproofing you blanket solely depends on how often you wash. We suggest to waterproof your blanket once you notice your horse is getting damp. All blankets hold the waterproofing at different rates. A tighter weave blanket holds the waterproofing much longer than a blanket with a looser weave or blankets with a seam running down your horses backline.

How Do I Pay?

           There are several methods of payment you can choose. Check out our “Payment Methods” page for more details. We accept Visa and MasterCard, check and cash. Some of our Pick-up locations have specific payment plans, please make sure you know what your plan is at your pick-up/ drop off location before sending in your items.

Why didn’t my blanket get repaired?

           Always fill out your pick-up tag COMPLETELY. We do not fix blankets unless you have requested it on your pick up slip.

What’s your policy on lost/missing items?

           Blanket Express has a sure fire method of keeping your items together and returned to you. In the event you haven’t received your complete order, we have a procedure for locating your item(s) and will do what we have to in order to get your item(s) back to you in a timely fashion.
